Aquasana designs and sells whole-house, under-sink, countertop and shower filters, and says it has focused solely on water filtration for 25 years with products tested and certified by NSF, WQA and IAPMO. It has been a subsidiary of A. O. Smith Corporation since August 8, 2016, when A. O. Smith bought the company for $87 million, and warranty service is handled by A. O. Smith Water Treatment (North America). Executive and marketing offices are in Austin, Texas, with sales, customer service and operations in Haltom City, Texas. Aquasana's site tells the story of a father who built a shower filter for his son but prints no founding year.

For well water we cover one product, the Rhino Well Water with UV (WH-WELL-UVS), a tank-based carbon and KDF system with a 20 in. sediment pre-filter, a 10 in. post-filter and a UV stage. It was $1,749 at aquasana.com as of Oct 2026 (sale; MSRP $3,498).

What sets the Rhino apart

Certification on the UV stage. The Rhino's UV filter is NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 55 Class B, which makes it the only system we cover from a direct-to-consumer brand with any NSF/ANSI 55 listing. Aquasana's claim that it sterilizes up to 99.8% of bacteria and viruses is the maker's figure, and Class B is a step below the Class A rating on the Pentair Premium UV.

The tank itself is a different story. It is described as independently tested, but no NSF/ANSI 42 or 53 certification is cited for the 78-contaminant claim, the manual marks the pre-filter as not NSF certified, and the system makes no iron, manganese or hydrogen sulfide claim at all. Rated flow is 7 GPM (14.7 GPM peak) with a 500,000-gallon or 5-year media life, no drain or backwash, and pre-filter changes every 2 months, or 6 months with the optional Low Maintenance pre-filter.

Warranty is a limited term equal to the filter's rated life, 5 years or 500,000 gallons, with proof of purchase required, cartridges excluded and coverage void if the system is moved; the UV is covered under its own manual. There is a 90-day satisfaction guarantee. Aquasana ships an assembly kit and manual but strongly recommends a licensed plumber.

When the Rhino is the right pick

The Rhino fits a well whose lab report shows bacteria but little or no iron, manganese or sulfur: clear water that needs disinfection and a carbon polish. In that case the certified UV stage, the five-year media life and the absence of a drain line make it a simple install, and the Oct 2026 sale price was half the MSRP.

If your test shows staining metals or a rotten-egg smell, the Rhino cannot be your first stage. Put an iron and sulfur filter such as the SpringWell WS1 or the US Water Systems Matrixx inFusion ahead of it, or choose a standalone UV like the Pentair Premium UV behind the filter you already have. A 7 GPM rated flow also makes it a poor match for a large home with several bathrooms running at once.

Warranty

Whole-house Rhino systems carry a limited warranty equal to the filter's rated life (5 years / 500,000 gallons for the Rhino Well Water with UV); registration not required but proof of purchase is; void if the system is moved; cartridges excluded; UV components covered under the UV manual. 90-day satisfaction guarantee. SmartFlow Reverse Osmosis: 2-year limited warranty (24 months per the warranty PDF).
