Aquasana Rhino Well Water with UV Whole House Filter

Whole-house filter · 7 GPM · Treats bacteria, sediment · $1,749 (sale) at Aquasana as of Oct 2026

The Aquasana Rhino Well Water with UV (WH-WELL-UVS) is a tank-based whole-house system pairing carbon and KDF media in an upflow dual tank with a 20 in. sediment pre-filter, a 10 in. post-filter and a UV lamp. The UV stage is NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 55 Class B; Aquasana's up to 99.8% bacteria and virus figure is the maker's. No NSF/ANSI 42 or 53 certification is cited for the tank's 78-contaminant claim, and it makes no iron, manganese or hydrogen sulfide claim.

Rated flow is 7 GPM with a 14.7 GPM peak, at 20-100 psi. Media life is 500,000 gallons or 5 years. The pre-filter is changed every 2 months (6 months with the optional Low Maintenance pre-filter, +$174) and the UV lamp annually. The unit is 57 in. tall and 11 in. in diameter with no drain or backwash; the UV needs an outlet.

Price was $1,749 at aquasana.com as of Oct 2026 (sale; MSRP $3,498). Aquasana ships an assembly kit and manual but strongly recommends a licensed plumber. Warranty is 5 years or 500,000 gallons on the tank, void if moved, cartridges excluded, UV covered under its own manual; 90-day satisfaction guarantee.

Class B is the supplemental-disinfection class, not Class A. Owner's manual (Sep 2025) says only that the Rhino system is 'Independently tested for the reduction of bacteria, viruses, cysts, and other contaminants commonly found in well water'; no NSF/ANSI 42 or 53 certification is cited for the tank. WQA product database (find.wqa.org, read 2026-10-06) returns no listing for 'WH-WELL', 'EQ-WELL' or 'AQ-UV'; its Aquasana Rhino entries are other models (WH-1000, WH-1010, WH-1011, WH-1021). • No backwash, drain or salt; 5-year / 500,000 gallon tank life
  • Large price cut vs. MSRP at time of check

Cons

  • Does not claim iron, manganese or hydrogen sulfide reduction, so most well water needs an upstream iron/sulfur filter
  • 7 GPM rated flow is low for larger homes
  • Pre-filter changes every 2 months; Aquasana recommends a licensed plumber for installation
  • 5-year warranty vs. lifetime on SpringWell tanks

Our take

The Rhino suits a well that tested positive for bacteria but is otherwise clean: no iron, manganese or sulfur to speak of. It is the only system in this set whose UV stage carries an NSF/ANSI 55 certification, though Class B rather than Pentair's Class A. The costs are a 7 GPM rated flow, two-month pre-filter changes and a 5-year warranty against SpringWell's lifetime terms.
