Home Master HMF3SdgFeC Whole House 3-Stage Sediment, Iron & Carbon Filter

Whole-house filter · 15 GPM · Treats sediment, iron, manganese · $550 at Home Master as of Oct 2026

The Home Master HMF3SdgFeC is a three-stage cartridge system marketed for potable well water. Stage one is a multi-gradient depth sediment cartridge stepping from 25 microns through 10 and 5 to a 1-micron core; stage two is a radial-flow iron reduction cartridge rated for iron under 3 ppm and manganese under 1 ppm; stage three is a 20-micron radial-flow coconut-shell GAC cartridge rated for 100,000 gallons. The maker claims up to 95% removal of VOCs, TOCs, herbicides, pesticides, iron and sediment; the maker's page says the filter also removes hydrogen sulfide but gives the acceptable feed level as none, because it shortens cartridge life.

Flow is up to 15 GPM through 1 in. NPT ports on 20 by 4.5 in. housings on a steel bracket, 25 by 24 by 9 in. at 48 lb shipping weight. There is no drain, electricity or backwash; most families of four replace cartridges about once a year. Amazon restricts it to non-chlorinated well water without iron bacteria or pH below 7.0. The page shows a company-level NSF/ANSI 42 certificate that does not name this model, and NSF's database lists only Perfect Water cartridges and tanks as components, so no certification is recorded.

Price was $550 at theperfectwater.com as of Oct 2026 (regular price). Install is DIY. Warranty is 2 years per the product page, which also mentions up to 5 years without detail.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • No drain, electricity or backwash needed; cartridge-only maintenance
  • 1 micron final sediment stage and 15 GPM rating at a published $550 price

Cons

  • Cartridge consumables (100,000 gallons or roughly yearly) rather than regenerating media
  • No system-level certification stated; 2-year warranty

Our take

The HMF3SdgFeC is the cartridge-based pick for a well with iron under 3 ppm, pH above 7 and no iron bacteria, where you want a 1-micron final sediment stage and no drain or power. It competes directly with the iSpring WGB32BM at a similar price and iron limit, with a longer 2-year warranty. Heavier iron or any pH problem calls for a backwashing tank system instead.
