What sets APEC apart
Certification and price. Both product pages state 'WQA Gold Seal Certified System'; the owner's manuals and WQA's listing say each is certified by WQA to NSF/ANSI 58 for TDS reduction only, and the ROES-50 at $230.99 had the lowest regular price of the certified RO systems we researched (the Aquasana SmartFlow was cheaper only at its sale price), with the 4-gallon tank and lead-free faucet included. APEC also describes itself as one of the last makers offering US-made membranes and filters, and every system comes with lifetime technical support.
What APEC does not publish is a certified per-contaminant list. The checklist on each page that ticks nitrate, PFAS, PFOA, PFOS, arsenic, fluoride and lead sits under 'removes up to 99% of contaminants' and is a manufacturer claim, not the certified claim list; no reduction percentages are given. The warranty is also short at 1 year for residential RO systems, filters and membranes excluded, against 10 years on APEC's heavy-duty whole-house tanks. The owner's manuals schedule pre-filters every 6-12 months and the membrane every 2-4 years (2 on well water).
Which APEC RO for your water test
Pick the ROES-50 ($230.99 at apecwater.com as of Oct 2026, regular price) if you want the lowest regular price on a certified under-sink RO and your well delivers 60 psi; output falls to 30 GPD at 50 psi. Pick the ROES-PH75 ($268.99, same terms) if your water is acidic or you want more volume: the 75 GPD membrane gives 50% more output and the calcite stage raises pH, at the cost of a sixth cartridge and some hardness added back. Both accept feed water from 40 to 85 psi and up to 2,000 ppm TDS.
Both are DIY installs with quick-connect fittings that need a faucet hole, a cold-water tee and a drain saddle. If your test shows nitrates, note that APEC's nitrate reduction is a maker claim; the Aquasana SmartFlow is the system in our data with nitrate and nitrite among its WQA-certified NSF/ANSI 58 claims (78% overall reduction, so check your level against that). Whichever you choose, retest the treated water.
