Culligan Aquasential Smart High Efficiency Iron-Cleer Water Filter

Iron filter · 4 GPM · Treats iron, manganese, sulfur · Dealer quote only

The Culligan Aquasential Smart High Efficiency Iron-Cleer is a two-tank iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide filter: an aeration tank fed by a 110 V air pump oxidizes the metals, and a birm tank filters them out. It is rated for clear-water iron up to 10 ppm and hydrogen sulfide up to 5 ppm, within pH 7.0-8.5, 100 ppm minimum alkalinity and 20-60 psi. Iron reduction is certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI 42, 372 and CSA B483.1 for 1,400 gallons between backwashes on the 10 in. filter; the sulfide figure was tested by Culligan and is not certified.

Service flow is modest: 4 gpm normal and 6 gpm maximum on the 10 in. model, 4 and 9 gpm on the 12 in., per the current owner's guide; the maximum figures are not validated by WQA or IAPMO. The 10 in. model is 67 in. tall and 26 in. wide with two 10 by 54 in. tanks.

Culligan sells, installs and services it only through local dealers, so pricing is by dealer quote and we show published specs only. It needs a drain and an outlet. Warranty is ten years on circuit board, valve body and tank, five years on the meter and one year on the whole unit.

Sold through authorized dealers only; pricing is by in-home quote.

Confirmed in the WQA product database (2026-10-06): Culligan International, 'Aquasential Smart High Efficiency', model '10 in. Iron-Cleer' (and '12 in. Pros and cons

Pros

  • WQA certification to NSF/ANSI 42 for iron reduction, which few iron filters carry
  • No chemical feed; aeration tank recharges automatically
  • Dealer installation and service with a 10-year valve/board/tank warranty

Cons

  • Dealer-only with no published price
  • Narrow pH window of 7.0-8.5 and 100 ppm minimum alkalinity required
  • Low service flow on the 10 in. model (4 gpm normal, 6 gpm maximum) and 60 psi maximum operating pressure
  • Hydrogen sulfide limit is 5 ppm and that claim is not certified

Our take

The Iron-Cleer is for the well owner who wants a certified iron-reduction claim, dealer installation and service, and a 10-year valve and tank warranty, and is willing to get a quote rather than a price. The limits are its narrow pH 7.0-8.5 window with 100 ppm alkalinity, a 60 psi ceiling and 4-6 gpm service flow on the 10 in. size, which rules out larger homes and acidic wells.
