Rusco 1 in. Sediment Trapper

Sediment filter · 25 GPM · Treats sediment · $85 at retailer as of Oct 2026

The Rusco 1 in. Sediment Trapper is a longer-body version of the Rusco spin-down, 14-3/8 in. versus 11-3/8 in., with the same 1 in. slip ports, 1-25 GPM range and 150 psi maximum. The extra length takes a wider range of elements: reusable polyester screens from 700 to 15 microns and stainless from 500 to 75 microns, plus disposable melt-blown elements at 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1 micron, a 5-micron carbon element, pleated elements from 50 to 1 micron and heavy-duty elements at 1,150 to 4,000 microns. Rusco describes the melt-blown elements as suited to silt, oil, grease, dirt and rust or iron.

IAPMO R&T lists the 1-100ST-F under File No. 6759 as a lead-free plumbing product, which covers lead content only, and Rusco does not put a number on how much more capacity the longer body gives. US Water Systems also resells it as the Rusco Centrifugal Sediment Trapper Spin-Down Filter, 1 in.

Rusco's site shows no prices; the 100 mesh 1-100ST-F was $84.72 at Fresh Water Systems as of Oct 2026, and US Water Systems listed it at $92.50 on sale. Rusco publishes installation guides with no professional-install requirement; hand tighten only. Components are warranted for 12 months from the original sale.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Same 1 in. slip ports and flow range as the spin-down with a longer body and wider element choice, including 1 to 5 micron melt-blown and pleated elements
  • Reusable screen options keep consumable cost low

Cons

  • Rusco's page does not explain the capacity difference from the standard spin-down in numbers
  • 12-month warranty
  • Only a lead-free IAPMO R&T listing (Safe Drinking Water Act Section 1417(d)); no NSF/ANSI filtration-performance certification

Our take

The Sediment Trapper is the Rusco to pick when you want one housing that can run a coarse flushable screen now and a 5-micron or 1-micron disposable element later, or that can take a carbon element. If you only need a grit trap ahead of a cartridge housing, the shorter 1 in. Spin-Down does the job with less room. The 12-month warranty is the same across the line.
