iSpring WSP-50 Reusable Spin Down Sediment Filter

Sediment filter · 20 GPM · Treats sediment · $70 at iSpring as of Oct 2026

The iSpring WSP-50 is a spin-down sediment filter that catches sand, rust, dirt and other large particles on a flushable 50-micron 316L stainless mesh screen. The clear PCTG housing shows when a flush is needed, and the lead-free brass head is double-threaded with 1 in. MNPT and 3/4 in. FNPT ends. Flow is 20 GPM per iSpring's listing title (the spec table gives no figure), with a 115 psi maximum, 25-80 psi recommended and 40-100 F for indoor use.

The same housing is sold as the WSP-100, 200, 500 and 1000 with coarser mesh at the same price. The screen is flushed daily to weekly depending on load through a valve that takes 3/8 in. OD tubing, and iSpring says it usually lasts 1-2 years. The unit is 3.5 by 3.5 by 9 in. with a mounting bracket, and has passed a 500 psi burst test and a 100,000-cycle water hammer test. No NSF/ANSI certification is cited.

Price was $69.99 at ispringfilter.com as of Oct 2026; a push-fit ball-valve bundle is $133.99. Warranty is 1 year on the brass body, with iSpring's 30-day money-back and lifetime tech support. Install is DIY with a downloadable manual.

CertificationsNot statedLead-free brass stated; no NSF/ANSI or other third-party certification is cited for this model on the product page or in the WSP series manual. iSpring's own 'NSF Certified Collections' page lists only the jumbo auto-flush WSP-ARJ / WSPSL-ARJ models under pre-filtration, not the WSP-50. WQA certified-product search (find.wqa.org) returned zero results for 'iSpring', 'iSpring Water', '123Filter', 'WGB32B' and 'RCC7AK' on 2026-10-06 (a control search for 'Culligan' returned listings). NSF certified-product database (info.nsf.org), searched 2026-10-06: Exact model not listed. The iSpring NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 listing (Facility: Haining, Zhejiang, China; "Plumbed-In[LL]") names WSP50ARJ, WSP50ARJ-BP, WSP50ARJ-E, WSP 50SL-ARJ, WSP 50SL-ARJ-BP and the 100/200/500 equivalents, with "[LL] Product conforms with lead content requirements for “lead free” plumbing". Plain WSP-50 / WSP-50SL are not named; do not treat the ARJ entries as covering this row without iSpring confirming.

  • Clear housing shows when a flush is needed
  • Dual-thread head fits 3/4 in. or 1 in. lines

Cons

  • Weight listed as 1 lb on the base page but 4 lb on the push-fit bundle listing

Our take

At $69.99 with no cartridges to buy, the WSP-50 is the cheapest sensible first stage for a sandy well, and the dual-thread head means it fits most pressure-tank outlets. Fifty microns is too coarse to be the final sediment stage, so follow it with a 5-micron cartridge. The 1-year warranty is short next to Rusco's similar 12 months on a US-made housing.
