Rusco 1-1/2 in. Spin-Down Sediment Filter

Sediment filter · 50 GPM · Treats sediment · $77 at retailer as of Oct 2026

The Rusco 1-1/2 in. Spin-Down is the larger-bore version of Rusco's centrifugal screen filter. The standard cold-water unit is rated 10-50 GPM at up to 150 psi through 1.5 in. slip ports and measures 15-3/8 by 5-1/4 in. A separate 1-1/2 in. Hot Water Spin-Down (part 1-1/2-100HT-F) has different specs (18-100 GPM, 1.5 in. FPT, 17-7/8 by 5-1/2 in., 200 F at 40 psi); retailers sell the standard unit as the 1-1/2-100-F, and the two are easy to confuse.

Screens match the 1 in. unit: nine polyester sizes from 24 mesh (700 microns) to 1000 mesh (15 microns) and five stainless sizes from 500 to 75 microns, with 100 mesh (150 microns) the default. They flush and reuse. IAPMO R&T lists the 1-1/2-100-F under File No. 6759 as a lead-free plumbing product; that covers lead content only, not filtration performance.

Rusco's site shows no prices; the standard 100 mesh 1-1/2-100-F was $77.13 at Fresh Water Systems as of Oct 2026 (the hot-water 1-1/2-100HT-F is a separate $236.69 part). No exact-model Amazon listing was verified. Rusco publishes installation guides with no professional-install requirement. Components are warranted for 12 months from original sale, liability is limited to the cost of the part, and tools on the housing void the warranty.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Higher 10-50 GPM range for larger homes or 1-1/2 in. well lines
  • Same reusable screen system and mesh options as the 1 in. unit

Cons

  • Two different 1-1/2 in. housings (standard 1-1/2-100-F vs hot-water 1-1/2-100HT-F) with different flow, port and price can be confused when ordering
  • 12-month warranty voided by use of tools

Our take

Choose the 1-1/2 in. unit only if your line is actually 1-1/2 in. or you need the 10-50 GPM range; on a 1 in. line the smaller Rusco does the same job. Double-check you are ordering the cold-water housing rather than the hot-water one, since the flow and port specs differ. As with every spin-down, finish with a 5-micron cartridge downstream.
