SpringWell Sediment Filter Canister + 5 Micron Filter

Sediment filter · 20 GPM · Treats sediment · $83 (sale) at SpringWell as of Oct 2026

The SpringWell Sediment Filter Canister is a standard cartridge housing shipped with a 5-micron sediment cartridge for dirt, sand, silt and rust flakes. The PF-10 (10 in. housing, 1 in. ports) is rated 20 GPM; the PF-20 (20 in. housing, 1.5 in. ports) is rated 35+ GPM for high-flow homes. SpringWell recommends installing it ahead of softeners and UV systems and changing the cartridge every 6-9 months depending on usage; no gallon capacity is published.

The kit includes the housing, mounting bracket, O-ring and spanner wrench and needs no drain or power. Only a 5-micron cartridge is listed, so there is no coarse spin-down stage for wells that pump heavy sand. Shipping weight is 5 lb and no certifications are stated.

Price was $83.23 at springwellwater.com as of Oct 2026 (sale; regular $150). The PF-20 was $190.39 (sale; regular $205.62). The housing carries SpringWell's lifetime warranty against defects, which is unusual for a cartridge pre-filter; cartridges are consumables, and returns are limited to unused, uninstalled items within 6 months with a 10% restocking fee. Install is DIY.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 20 in. option with 1.5 in. ports for high-flow homes

Cons

  • Only a 5-micron cartridge option is listed; no coarse spin-down stage for heavy sand
  • No published capacity rating
  • Regular price of $150 is high for a standard 10 in. housing

Our take

This is a fine-sediment polishing stage for a SpringWell system, and the lifetime housing warranty is a real plus. It is not the right first stage for a sandy well: 5 microns will clog fast under heavy grit, so put a flushable spin-down such as the Rusco 1 in. or iSpring WSP-50 ahead of it. At the $150 regular price it is expensive for a standard 10 in. housing.
