Culligan Aquasential Smart High Efficiency Water Softener

Water softener · 9 GPM · Treats hardness, iron · Dealer quote only

The Culligan Aquasential Smart High Efficiency Water Softener is a dealer-installed ion-exchange softener built on Cullex resin in a Quadra-Hull tank, certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI 44 for hardness, barium and radium 226/228 plus NSF/ANSI 372 and CSA B483.1. The 9 in. model is rated 9.0 gpm; the 10, 12 and 14 in. models reach 9.4 to 10.6 gpm. It tolerates up to 75 gpg hardness and up to 5 ppm iron (with 8 gpg of hardness per ppm of iron), but the owner's guide says iron removal claims are not verified by WQA or IAPMO.

Capacity depends on salt dose: 19,003 grains at 4 lb, 25,823 at 8 lb and 29,622 at 12 lb for the 9 in. downflow model per the current owner's guide; the 9 in. upflow version is rated lower (25,116 grains at 8 lb). Features include Dial-a-Softness, proportional brining, Aqua-Sensor, leak sensor and the Culligan Connect app.

Culligan sells, installs and services it only through local dealers, so pricing is by dealer quote and we show published specs only. Warranty is lifetime on tank and resin, 10 years on circuit board and valve, 5 years on meter and probes, 1 year on the entire unit.

Sold through authorized dealers only; pricing is by in-home quote.

Cons

  • Dealer-only; no published price

Our take

This is the softener for a hard well with a little clear-water iron where you want an NSF/ANSI 44 certified unit, a lifetime tank and resin warranty and someone local to service it. You trade a published price for a dealer quote, and the iron tolerance is uncertified and needs regular resin cleaning. For iron above 5 ppm, add an Iron-Cleer ahead of it.
