iSpring UVF55FS 55W Whole House UV Water Filter

UV disinfection · 12 GPM · Treats bacteria · $339 at iSpring as of Oct 2026

The iSpring UVF55FS is a 55 W UV-C sterilizer in a 37.5 in. 304 stainless steel reactor for wells that test positive for bacteria. It is rated up to 12 GPM, and its smart flow-sensing ballast switches the lamp on at 0.66 GPM so the lamp only runs when water flows, with Auto, Move and Stop modes. No UV dose is published, no NSF/ANSI 55 or other certification is stated, and iSpring gives no pathogen-reduction percentage on the product page.

The lamp is rated up to 9,000 hours and should be replaced annually, with the quartz sleeve cleaned every 6-12 months. The unit is 38 by 3 by 3 in., weighs 7.5 lb, mounts on included wall brackets, has 1 in. MNPT ports and needs a 100-120 V outlet. There are no chemicals and no wastewater. The manual limits feed water to 0.3 ppm iron, 120 ppm hardness and 70% minimum UV transmittance and wants particles above 20 microns filtered out first, so plan the train accordingly.

Price was $338.99 at ispringfilter.com as of Oct 2026 (regular price). Warranty is 1 year upon registration, with 30-day money-back, lifetime tech support and paid 3-, 5- and 10-year extensions. Install is DIY.

Service flow12 GPMRated flow 12 GPM (product title and UVF55FS manual). No UV dose (mJ/cm2) is published on the page or in the manual. Manual 'Specs and Conditions' (table read via PDF text extraction): operating pressure 4-85 psi, maximum hardness 120 ppm, maximum iron 0.3 ppm, minimum UVT 70%, vertical or horizontal installation; the warranty terms require feed pressure 'no less than 4 psi and no greater than 85 psi' and chlorine of 1.0 mg/L or less. The manual also says incoming water must be 'free of particles larger than 20 microns', to install the UV 'after the filters as the last stage', and to fit a pressure regulator 'if the water pressure is over 43 psi ... to protect the quartz sleeve' (which conflicts with the 85 psi maximum in the same manual). Flow sensor switches the lamp on at 0.66 GPM (product page, read 2026-10-05; not re-read 2026-10-06).

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Flow-sensing ballast only runs the lamp when water flows
  • Low purchase price for a 12 GPM whole-house UV unit
  • In-stock Amazon listing for the exact model

Cons

  • No NSF/ANSI 55 certification and no published UV dose
  • 1-year warranty
  • Manual limits feed water to 0.3 ppm iron, 120 ppm hardness, 70% minimum UVT and particles under 20 microns, so most wells need pre-treatment ahead of it

Our take

The UVF55FS is the low-price way to add UV to a well that already has sediment and iron under control, and the flow-sensing ballast is a nice touch at this price. What you give up is any certification or published dose and all but a 1-year warranty. If a lab result or lender requires certified disinfection, the NSF/ANSI 55 Class A Pentair Premium UV is the one to look at.
