SpringWell CF1 Whole House Water Filter System

Whole-house filter · 9 GPM · Treats pfas · $1,160 (sale) at SpringWell as of Oct 2026

The SpringWell CF1 is a whole-house KDF and catalytic carbon tank that SpringWell markets for city water: chlorine, chloramine, taste and odor, and PFAS, PFOA and PFOS. The PFAS reduction is a manufacturer claim with no NSF/ANSI 53 certification cited, and the page states no certification at all. It does not treat iron, manganese or sulfur, though SpringWell pairs it with the WS1 in its ULTRA well combos.

The CF1 (Core, 1-3 bathrooms) is rated 9 GPM; the CF4 is 12 GPM and the CF+ 20 GPM with a 1.5 in. connection. Media life is 1,000,000 gallons or 10 years in an up-flow tank with no drain, electricity or backwash. A 5-micron sediment pre-filter housing is included; its cartridge is changed every 6-9 months. The tank is 9 in. by 48 in. and ships at 72 lb.

Price was $1,160.25 at springwellwater.com as of Oct 2026 (sale; regular $1,365). The bypass valve ($78.74) and 1 in. connectors ($83.99) are add-ons. SpringWell covers tank, media, valves and heads for life, and guarantees chlorine and chloramine reduction for 6 years or 1 million gallons. Returns are accepted within 6 months only for unused, uninstalled items, with a 10% restocking fee. Install is DIY with a downloadable manual.

PFAS/PFOA/PFOS reduction is a manufacturer claim, not a cited NSF/ANSI 53 certification. Re-checked 2026-10-06: product page text still contains no NSF, WQA, IAPMO or "certified" wording. WQA certified-product database (find.wqa.org/find-products) keyword searches for "SpringWell", "Spring Well", "Wise Water", "BlackComb" and "FutureSoft" each returned zero listings (a control search for "Pentair" returned listings). Cons

Our take

The CF1 is for well owners who need chlorine, chloramine or taste and odor reduction downstream of other treatment, or who want to try the PFAS claim at a modest price. It will not touch iron, manganese or sulfur, so it belongs after a WS1 or similar, not instead of one. The 9 GPM base rating is lower than the WS1's 12 GPM.
